The Hopkinsons
For this kitchen in Huddersfield, Wood & Wire were commissioned to create a kitchen/utility space. In this open-plan extension, the scheme consists of a wide galley kitchen with an island unit core and separate utility. To one side, a full-height fridge and larder cupboard meet the baseline recycling unit, double-door sink unit and double pull-out drawer dishwasher. Meanwhile, sitting between this and two double-door wall units above, there’s an undermounted stainless steel sink and tap. Leading on from here is a double oven with warming drawer, topped and tailed with additional storage.
Moving through into the utility, a pull-out larder with overhead storage meets baseline freezer, sink unit and additional storage. Inside the sink unit is an overmounted black sink with a Quooker, instant hot water, stainless steel tap. Above, an apex roof is met by two double-door wall units (one with an open shelf) and a semi-integrated microwave oven with additional storage.
Back into the kitchen, on the opposite wall nestled between the two overhead beams is a display unit comprising two double-door cupboards and two single-door cupboards at base level. This sits beneath a triple layer of open apertures split down the middle and broken up with two alternating sliding doors on the two upper layers. At the centre of the room sits the island, featuring open illuminated shelving at one end, while two triple-drawer units separated by a pull-out spice rack and tray opening lie opposite a two-seater breakfast bar, with under-counter storage and some further open shelving. Above this, sitting flush within the white Dekton surface is a pop-up socket box and a modular BORA system comprising of double-ring gas hob, double-point induction and BORAs market-leading, surface-based, down-draught extraction system. Finally, we installed an illuminated single sliding door wall cupboard with complementary shelf in the dining area.
Our client selected a palate of blue, orange, white and oak veneer for their doors and drawers, white ceilings and walls, oak panel floor and blue glass splashbacks. In the utility, the client opted for orange glass splashbacks with black laminated ply worksurfaces.
