The Spooners
This U-shaped open-plan kitchen in Sheffield begins at the patio door garden entrance to the space, with a duo of floor-to-ceiling larder cupboards. The scheme – separated briefly by a picture window and overhead beam – starts along the next wall, with an integrated fridge-freezer, pull-out larder unit and overhead storage. Next is a baseline recycling unit, an integrated dishwasher, and a 1.5 stainless-steel undermounted Franke sink with matching tap, all nestled into a double-door sink unit before the run leads into the corner of the room with pull-out corner unit. Leading away from the corner is a double-door cupboard unit with pull-out spice rack, a range cooker and a second double-door cupboard finishing the run. Above, and running the length of the wall above eye level, is a pair of sliding wall units, one of which contains the integrated extractor fan.
At the heart of the scheme is a large island unit comprising a two-seater breakfast bar with wine rack, bookcase and double cupboard underneath; a duo of three-drawer units on the opposite side; and open shelving at its end. The clients selected a subtle scheme of pale grey and oak veneer for the cupboard faces, with pops of yellow and blue on the open apertures of the island unit.
The scheme was finished with white Corian surfaces, white walls and ceiling, yellow tiles above the range and an oak panel floor.
