The Hurdmans
The Hurdman’s kitchen was a wonderfully large, light and airy interior, so to retain that sense of space we designed LED-lit boxed wall shelves instead of closed-in wall cabinets. The main feature of this kitchen though was its wonderful solid walnut kitchen island, which didn’t just make for a practical seating area to admire the main kitchen from, but also provided the kitchen with some open storage and a station for the microwave. The walnut kitchen island was built using our traditional birch plywood kitchen carcass but then topped and framed with solid walnut block. Our kitchen design continued along the wall, providing a housing for the freestanding fridge freezer as well as a bookcase and cupboard unit to house other kitchen essentials.

It’s hard to do justice to the enormous pleasure our Wood & Wire kitchen brings us everyday. Everything works brilliantly - from the smoothly gliding draws that open and close effortlessly to the wonderful wooden worktop on our island that glows in the soft light and our beautiful illuminated boxes that display everyday item and treasured pieces to glorious effect. It looks so simple, but every part has been beautifully made to create a kitchen with a unique style and character all of its own.
