The Hayfields

This indoor herb planter kitchen was designed for clients who wanted a calm, efficient space with strong design lines and a connection to nature. Located in Huddersfield, the project is a masterclass in subtle contrasts and thoughtful detail.

At the heart of the scheme is a bespoke white Corian worktop with an integrated sink, drainer grooves, and a recessed herb planter, which brings a living, tactile element into the cooking space. This feature is both practical and grounding and softens the clean geometry of the cabinetry and creates a constant sense of seasonality in the kitchen.

The lower units are finished in black and orange laminate adding a flash of colour and personality. Above, crisp white doors framed in exposed ply offer a quiet contrast, with shadow-gap handles maintaining the minimalist flow. The end of the cabinetry run opens into a multifunctional bookshelf island facing the dining area, keeping cookbooks and glassware close to hand without interrupting the kitchen’s visual rhythm.

A vertical slatted plywood screen offers a subtle division between kitchen and transitional space, while echoing the natural tones of the flooring and ply frames. Integrated Siemens appliances keep everything sleek and uncluttered.

This is a kitchen designed for people who know what they want: simplicity, functionality, and quiet sophistication. It’s modern without being showy, warm without being rustic. It's a place to cook, read, talk, and grow things.
