The Halsey – Taylors
Our work on this award winning contemporary barn remodel at Thorny Barn is another good example of us partnering with Gagarin Studio; a local firm of architects whose superb reputation wins them a large amount of residential clients looking for entire interior and exterior redesigns. Up here in the north, architects’ talents are all too often wasted on endless simple planning jobs but, thankfully, Gargarin’s creativity and vision are often put to much more exciting use.
In this project, as well as designing and installing one of our signature birch ply kitchens, Gagarin asked us to collaborate with them to create some bespoke furniture for a client who’d commissioned a full interior refurbishment of their period property high in the South Pennines. Drawing on Jim’s background and expertise in furniture, and working to designs supplied by Gagarin, we helped engineer items that wouldn’t just look great; they’d be practical, comfortable and long-lasting too.
As well as manufacturing the frames of sofas for the lounge and media room, we also used our own upholsterer to cover them with beautiful, high-quality fabrics in keeping with the brief. In fact, this job also sparked the beginning of our relationship with Bute Fabrics – a producer of fabrics for the fashion and textiles industry, based on the Scottish isle of Bute. We also made a bespoke media unit and some open shelving room divides, all of it using birch ply.
